By developing a highly specialized surgical activity, we are in a position to contribute to the training of other urologists.

By developing a large volume of highly specialized surgical activity, we are in a position to contribute to the training of other urologists.
Training sessions are conducted on different types of interventions:
- GreenLight Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HOLEP) by Dr. Fernando Gómez Sancha
- Robotic Surgery: Surgical sessions with Dr. Richard Gaston or Dr. Gomez Sancha
- Urethral reconstruction by Dr. Gómez Sancha)
- Holmium laser endourology: ureteroscopies and percutaneous renal surgery by Dr. Llanes and Dr. Juarez
These sessions are held in the various hospitals where ICUA and ICUA Andalucía doctors work, as well as in Sofia at the Hill Clinic.
We typically offer short surgical sessions of one or two days, grouping surgeries together to maximize productivity. We do not offer extended stays or paid fellowships; all stays are observational.
Proctorship: ICUA specialists can travel to train other urologists. If you wish to adopt any of these techniques, we can accompany you in your first cases, so you can offer your patients effective and safe treatment during your learning curve.

Nursing training
By developing a highly specialized surgical activity, we are in a position to contribute to the training of other urologists.

The advantage of a high volume of surgical procedures is that it allows for the development of effective protocols for patients and efficient ones for medical and hospital teams. Building nursing teams that are perfectly coordinated with physicians and hospital staff is vital for the smooth operation of any group, service, or clinic.
At ICUA, either concurrently with the development of training courses in techniques for physicians, or separately, we offer specific training for nursing staff. This ranges from basic technical skills such as catheterization, cystoscopy, ultrasound and flowmetry assistance, and various operating room setups and specific protocols, to assistance with HoLEP procedures, robotic surgery, kidney stone management, and more.

Collaboration of iCUA with other centers
Technological advancements in urology are making it increasingly difficult to become a fully qualified specialist.
The rapid pace of technological development in urology is making it increasingly difficult to be a specialist in all subspecialties, a true "jack-of-all-trades." Today, a single urologist can no longer be proficient in treating kidney stones, prostate problems, incontinence, erectile dysfunction, infertility, urologic cancer, and other conditions.
On the other hand, a growing body of scientific research demonstrates that experienced surgeons, those who hyper-specialize in a very narrow field, achieve the best results and experience the fewest complications. Increasingly, patients recognize this fact and understand that it is not the more or less sophisticated surgical instruments that make the difference, but rather the surgeon who uses them and their experience.
Therefore, it is not unusual for a urologist with a large number of patients to refer some of his patients with specific problems to other, more experienced colleagues in the profession, to perform certain surgical techniques and thus initiate the shared care of these patients.
We are always happy to collaborate and establish agreements for shared patient care, so that your patient can return to visit you after the procedure for post-operative follow-up.
We can receive patients at our center, or travel to help you treat them in your environment, or accompany you during your learning curve.
