Surgical techniques

Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP)

Intervention that allows the removal of benign prostatic hyperplasia with laser by vaporizing the hyperplastic tissue or by allowing the enucleation of all the tissue and subsequently extracting it in small fragments.

Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS)

A minimally invasive endoscopic procedure that allows a very narrow and flexible instrument, which carries a camera, to be inserted through the urethra and up to the kidney, allowing kidney stones to be pulverized and extracted.

Green Laser Photovaporization of the Prostate

It is a minimally invasive technique that treats benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). By applying laser light to the adenomatous tissue, it is eliminated, thus relieving urinary tract symptoms.

Laparoscopic surgery

Laparoscopy is a type of minimally invasive surgery in which the patient is operated on through small incisions made in the abdominal cavity.

Insertion of fiducial markers and rectal spacer

These are markers that allow cancer treatments to be applied to the prostate without damaging healthy tissue.

Orchiectomy

Surgical treatment involving the removal of one or both testicles. This is performed in cases of testicular cancer, testicular cancer prevention, male breast cancer, severe trauma or injury, and sex reassignment surgery.

Ureteral catheter or stent

It is a tubular catheter, which is inserted into the ureter, connecting the bladder and kidney, to allow urine to flow down to the bladder.

Treatment of pelvic organ prolapse

If lifestyle changes and pelvic physiotherapy do not correct the problem, minimally invasive surgeries can be performed to reposition the pelvic organs and correct prolapses.

Penile prosthesis

Penile implantation is indicated in cases of erectile dysfunction that do not respond to other treatments. It allows for a good quality erection and maintains normal sensations during sexual intercourse.

Varicocelectomy

This procedure involves ligating testicular varicosities, or varicoceles, through a small incision in the groin. It is usually performed in cases where the patient experiences testicular pain or decreased fertility.

Optilume

It is a treatment that combines dilation of the stenosis using a balloon with the simultaneous administration of an antiproliferative drug that prevents recurrence of the obstruction.

Surgery for urinary incontinence

There is no single treatment option for urinary incontinence. Self-care measures can make a substantial difference for the patient and include lifestyle changes (avoiding coffee, tea, citrus fruits, and alcohol), bladder training, and more.

Transurethral resection of the bladder

This procedure allows examination of the inside of the bladder, taking biopsies or removing tumors from this organ under anesthesia.

Focal therapy for localized prostate cancer

A non-invasive technique that destroys cancerous tissue using various energy sources. HIFU treatment uses ultrasonic energy, or sound waves, to heat and destroy specific areas of prostate tissue. Cryotherapy uses cold with the same…

Intravesical injection of botulinum toxin (Botox®)

Injection of small doses of botulinum toxin (Botox) into different points of the urinary bladder. The muscle-paralyzing effect of Botox is very useful in some cases of urinary incontinence or neurogenic bladder.

Holmium Laser for Urinary Stones

Currently, urinary stones can be treated minimally invasively using endourological techniques (ureteroscopy, retrograde intrarenal surgery, or percutaneous nephrolithotomy). This requires a device that effectively and safely breaks up the stones…

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy

Minimally invasive treatment of large kidney stones, through a puncture a camera and a laser are introduced into the kidney to pulverize the urinary stones.

Ureteral stone surgery

Today, painful kidney stones can be treated with a simple procedure. A very thin instrument is inserted through the urethra, allowing the stones to be pulverized with a laser.

Urethral reconstruction, urethroplasty

A surgical procedure to permanently repair a urethral stricture (narrowing of the urethral canal). Thanks to technological advancements, it now has a high long-term success rate.

Non-surgical treatments for Peyronie's disease

For penile fibrosis that causes curvature during erection, there are treatments based on drugs, penile traction devices, penile shaping, and low-intensity shock waves.

Hydrocelectomy

Surgical intervention that resolves the excessive accumulation of fluid around the testicle (hydrocele).

Condyloma removal surgery

Genital warts can be removed with an electric scalpel using local anesthesia, by using liquid nitrogen, which destroys them by freezing (cryotherapy), or by using laser light.

Intraprostatic injection of antibiotics

Treating chronic prostatitis, which presents with chronic pelvic pain, is a challenge for urologists, pelvic floor physiotherapists, and pain management specialists. Its cause is multifactorial, and despite…

I-TIND Temporary Stent for BPH

Intervention that allows the removal of benign prostatic hyperplasia with laser by vaporizing the hyperplastic tissue or by allowing the enucleation of all the tissue and subsequently extracting it in small fragments.

Bladder instillations of hyaluronic acid

Instillation of hyaluronic acid via a catheter into the bladder contributes to the recovery of the urothelial mucosa. It is indicated in cases of painful bladder, interstitial cystitis, chemical cystitis, recurrent cystitis, or radiation cystopathy.
