Specializing in minimally invasive surgery for urinary stones, detection and treatment of prostate cancer, Dr. Moisés Rodríguez Socarrás has been part of the ICUA team since 2019, where he carries out his clinical and research activities exclusively.
Born in Venezuela, Dr. Moisés Rodríguez Socarrás completed his medical studies in the same country and later specialized in Urology at the Vigo University Hospital ComplexWithin his extensive curriculum vitae, he holds the FEBU title for passing the EBU exam (European Board of Urology) in Brussels, Belgium. In addition to the aforementioned specialization, he has completed his training in endourology by undertaking a full year fellowship (sub-specialization) at the world-renowned center of high specialization: European Training Center in Endourology (ETCE) of Milan.
His specialties include minimally invasive, endoscopic, and laser surgery for the treatment of urinary stones, and laser surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). He is an expert in prostate cancer diagnosis using fusion biopsy, high-resolution microultrasound, and biomarkers. He also performs minimally invasive procedures for the treatment and follow-up of BPH, prostate cancer, and tumors of the upper and lower urinary tract.
He is currently a member of the Spanish Association of Urology and the European Association of Urology, where he has served on the board of directors for residents and junior urologists. He combines his clinical practice with active research at the Institute of Advanced Urological Surgery (ICUA).

He has won several awards for scientific work presented at national and international urology congresses, including WATER London 2017, Copenhagen 2018 Stockholm 2014 Barcelona 2019 WATER 2020 and congress of the American Urological AssociationShe won a scholarship from the UAE Scholarship Programme. European School of Urology (ESU), for a laser technology research project in 2018.
He has published more than forty scientific articles in indexed urological journals and presented more than one hundred papers at conferences and lectures as an invited speaker.

His scientific article stands out. “Madrid Protocol: Transperineal biopsies for the diagnosis of prostate cancer using fusion with magnetic resonance imaging and high-resolution microultrasound” published in the Journal of Urology, the most prestigious urological scientific journal in the United States.
