Dr. Daniel Zarza Luciáñez

Expert in clinical neurophysiology and pathologies causing chronic pelvic pain. Responsible for the neurophysiological diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain at iCUA.

El Dr. Zarza Luciáñez She specialized in Clinical Neurophysiology at Yagüe General Hospital from Burgos where he is carrying out his thesis “Neurophysiology of erectile dysfunction”.

She later worked in Madrid at the General Hospital of Móstoles and completed her doctoral thesis “Neurobiology of Pelvic Floor Aging” at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital of Madrid, center where she becomes part of the multidisciplinary group studying Pelvic Pain.

Currently, he combines his work as Head of the Neurophysiology Service at Vithas Aravaca Hospital with that of Head of the Chronic Pelvic Pain Area in our unit.

Current specialization

Dr. Daniel Zarza Luciánez specializes in the diagnosis of pathologies that cause chronic pelvic pain associated with conditions such as pudendal nerve neuropathy, chronic prostatitis, postpartum pain, post-infectious/post-inflammatory pain, and myofascial syndromes.

It utilizes a wide variety of neurophysiological tests, such as nerve conduction velocities, the St. Mark test, sensory thresholds, evoked potentials, the sympathetic-cutaneous response, bulbocavernosus reflexes, and electromyography (EMG) of pelvic muscles. Finally, it aids in the treatment of botulinum toxin injections guided by electromyography.

Diseases it treats

Prostatitis, Chronic Pelvic Pain and Cystitis

Prostatitis means inflammation of the prostate gland. These can be acute (febrile) or chronic, and can be of bacterial origin (infectious prostatitis) or non-bacterial origin (abacterial prostatitis). Techniques in which he specializes
