A review of 47 studies conducted by the Mayo ClinicThe United States has attempted to determine how foods of animal or plant origin influence prostate cancer as a possible risk factor.
The results of the work have been published in Journal of the American Osteopathic Association The study was based on monitoring over one million men between 2006 and 2017. It concluded that a diet high in dairy products predisposes men to developing prostate cancer. Regarding other animal products, spokespeople emphasize that there appears to be no evidence that they contribute to cancer, unlike the case of calcium.
These results would explain why countries like those in Asia have lower rates of prostate cancer, since they are communities where dairy consumption is usually lower than in Western countries.
Despite the results obtained, experts say that further studies are needed to achieve greater statistical accuracy. They explain that other factors, such as overall diet, alcohol consumption, and tobacco use, must be considered when determining risk factors.
Finally, experts explain that this warning about dairy consumption should be taken into account, and the recommended daily amounts for adults should not be exceeded, but especially a balanced diet that includes all food groups and regular exercise should be followed.
